Lake Paringa

About the campsite:

Surrounded by dense native bush and mountain foothills, Lake Paringa Campsite offers a tranquil lakeside retreat away from the busier glacier townships. The sheltered environment and calm water create ideal conditions for fishing, swimming and quiet relaxation.

The campsite layout places campervans close to the water with forest providing shelter from wind and coastal weather. Facilities are basic and consistent with DOC standard camping style.

Morning reflections across the lake are a highlight, with mist and mountain silhouettes creating dramatic early light conditions. The surrounding forest supports birdlife and short walking opportunities.

For campervan travellers, Lake Paringa works well as a peaceful overnight base between Haast and Fox Glacier. Arriving during daylight allows travellers to secure lakeside positions and enjoy the scenery.

Lake Paringa offers calm freshwater camping that contrasts strongly with the rugged West Coast coastline.
